Saradio Durga Utsava/Puja/Festival


Once again Sardio Durga Puja (Worship of Durga) is on stage and is being celebrated by all devotee Hindus. Durga Puja is also called Akal Bodhon and also referred to Durgotsava or Sarotsava.

As the puja takes place in Autumn (Saratkal) is called Sardio Durga Puja. As per traditional Hindu Calander Durga puja starts in the Sixth day of Ashwina(month of Ashwin) shukla paksha (6th day of the moon) and ends in Tenth day of Ashwina shukla paksha. So is a 5 days celebration/festival.

Durga Puja festival marks the victory of Goddess Durga over the evil buffalo demon Mahishasura. Thus, Durga Puja festival epitomises the victory of Good over Evil.
